Summary:

Focuses on the African elephant which is bigger than its Asian counterpart. Films elephant calves and their development, elephant herds, water fights and the elephant matriarch. Explains that male adults tend to live alone but elephants are generally caring, gentle and protective. Describes what elephants eat, how much they drink, and their sleeping habits. Films how elephants communicate with noises, flapping ears, and tapping. Concludes with a discussion of elephant ears, the elephant's running speed, their poor eyesight and their great sense of smell. Contains two "Quiz times" that track students' understanding of the concepts. Uses footage from Disney classics including Dumbo, The Jungle Book and The Big Wash.
