After the Great War of 2052, society devolved into chaos, and Joseph's family sought refuge in a bunker in the deserts of the Middle East. Now, on his sixteenth birthday, Joseph finally gets to leave the bunker and go on his first scavenging mission with his older brothers. But first, he receives a beautiful leather jacket from his father, Abba-a clear reminder that Joseph is Abba's favorite son. Jealous, the brothers sell Joseph to an enslaver, who drags him and two others to the city of Avaris, where Joseph and his two new friends are forced into servitude. Just as Joseph begins to adjust to his new situation-and fall in love- a false accusation lands him in prison. His hard work and ability to interpret dreams eventually bring him to the attention of Pharaoh, ruler of Avaris, but the false accusation continues to haunt him, and he and his friends must rely on their ingenuity and courage to uncover the truth and save not only Avaris, but Joseph's family as well.
